Family/Youth Respite Aftercare Services

Our program is designed for youth referred by the Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) who have been arrested for a Domestic Violence (DV) offense on a household member and are in need of more intense family stabilization (e.g. documented history of domestic violence by a family member, family at risk of dependency system, court involvement) OR youth in probation regardless of adjudication status referred for counseling by the local probation office.

Services are intended to help youth and their families after an arrest, a respite stay or referral from a probation officer to assist with integration into their home environment and community through effective communication, identification of emotions and coping mechanisms.

Eligibility Criteria

Youth 6-18

Arrested for a domestic violence offense on a household member

Youth on probation regardless of adjudication status

Youth are not eligible under Commitment, Intake or Conditional Release status.

Referrals and Sources

Following a respite stay

Juvenile Assessment Center and/or law enforcement

Local Probation Office

Length of Stay

Thirteen (13) sessions or ninety (90) consecutive days of services, unless otherwise specified by court order.

Any requests for extension shall be made in writing to the Chief Probation Officer in a circuit fourteen (14) days before the one hundred and twenty (120) days in the program expires.
