About Us

OUR

HISTORY

Prevention Central is a 501 © (3), non-profit, faith-based organization which was founded in 1993. Initially organized to address the issues of minority over representation in the juvenile justice system. Prevention Central has expanded to respond to issues of Family Reunification Services, Prevention, Emergency Food Pantry, Parenting and Neighborhood Empowerment.

Since 1993, Prevention Central, formerly Mount Bethel Human Services Corporation, Inc., has focused on the needs of disadvantaged youth and families in the inner city of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County as a whole. We keep a countless number of youth who are runaway, truant and/or exhibiting ungovernable behavior from entering into the juvenile justice system through our Children in Need of Services/Families in Need of Services (CINS/FINS) program.

Additionally, we provide over 20,000 food packets to low and moderate income families in Broward County annually, provide employability skills training to the community and provide parenting classes as needed.

Founded by Bishop C. E. Glover, a liberation theologian, we are a faith-based organization that thrives to empower people to become complete in their resolve. It is our mission to provide help, hope and healing to those who need it the most!
