Tierra Smith joined Prevention Central, formerly Mount Bethel Human Services Inc. in July 2019 as a Licensing Specialists in the Treasure Coast Foster Home Management Program and became the organizations Executive Director in March 2021. Tierra has dedicated more than 10 years of her professional career to the non-profit sector. Operating a organization initially organized to address the issues of minority over representation in the juvenile justice system. Tierra has continued to expand the agencies response to issues of Family Reunification Services, Prevention, Parenting and Neighborhood Empowerment. Focusing on the needs of disadvantaged youth and families in the inner city of Fort Lauderdale and Broward County as a whole.
Graduating from Nova Southeastern University in 2012 with a Master of Social Science, The GREAT Bethune Cookman University in 2009 with a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice, emphasizing Social Sciences and currently advancing her education at Liberty University in efforts to obtain Licensure and a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Tierra finds furthering her knowledge and education to serve her local community as a strength. Recently completing Florida Atlantic University Leadership Bootcamp, Tierra earned a Certificate in Leadership and continues to exercise the skills obtained to motivate and catapult others.
Tierra is a native of Roanoke, Virginia, and a proud member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. She has held numerous leadership positions both locally and nationally while with Prevention Central including serving as the as a Project Lead in various community service projects ranging from Broward County to the Treasure Coast. Tierra’s non-profit career officially started in 2009 after serving the Department of Juvenile Justice.
Tierra is an avid community nurturer who believes that serving those in need and leading life in love are the keys to a long happy, healthy life. Her passion to assist others in various facets allows her to operate at her full potential while offering opportunities to others.
Born in Virginia, she is married and has two children, ages 1 and 5. As a mother of multiple children she brings a unique perspective to the juggling act women face balancing motherhood and professional careers.
