Diamelys Vargas was born in Norwich, Connecticut and was raised for part of her childhood in Puerto Rico. Her passion for social justice issues and advocacy started at a young age when she experienced many hardships and rough situations that placed her on the path to pursuing social work. Diamelys moved to Florida to obtain her degree; graduating from Broward College with her Associates, and Florida Atlantic University with her Bachelor’s in Social Work and a minor in Criminal Justice. Currently, she is in the Advanced Standing Master’s of Social Work Program at FAU. Within her career. She aims to focus on advocating for disadvantaged youth, the LGBTQIA+ community, individuals with mental health disorders, and the incarcerated community.
Besides going to school and working full-time, Diamelys is also a single mom to a toddler. She is a proud Noble sister of a Co-Ed Latin Fraternity, Alpha Psi Lambda National Inc. and spends her time giving back to the community and organization as she is passionate about bringing change to other’s lives and making an impact.
